Pre-Birthday Blues

...so I've been in a slump the past couple of weeks and I think it's the annual pre-birthday blues. I think the whole "turning 30" thing is affecting me more than I know 'coz the blues hit me way earlier this year (usually it hits a couple of days before my birthday). Yes, yes, I know I have many blessings to count - but I choose to wallow for a little while damnit. It's 10:24am on a Monday and I want a long island iced tea and a pack of cigarettes.

On another note, some asshole ate their toast on my desk this morning and crumbed everywhere. MAN that pisses me off. But then again, everything is pissing me off at the moment. I stepped on the escalator last week and my foot was halfway on a step and when it moved I lost my balance. I got mad and kicked the escalator. Hahaha re-reading that, how gay does that sound? I digress. OK, time to take account of the past 30 years.

That's it for now. I'll add more when closer to my birthday. 12 days left of being 20-something.

Did you notice I have links to other blogs and my photo albums down the side now?

More Gym Ettiquette

...so I've been saving this post for a while but now I feel like I have enough material. After going to the gym 15 (!) days in a row in New York there have been quite a few, uhhhmmm let's just say, "experiences" that I've encountered which have lead me to refine the rules for gym ettiquette:

- Do NOT sit in the locker room and read the newspaper. Naked. Thanks to Ed for that one.
- Do NOT open someone's shower curtain while they're showering. This happened to me one unfortunate day in New York. This leads me to my next point...
- Do NOT scream when someone opens your shower curtain. This leads to a source of much amusement to the others in the locker room (Thanks Steve)
- Do NOT dress like you're going clubbing when you're working out. Just this morning I saw someone wearing a long sleeve shirt and cargo pants with a belt (what the?) on the treadmill.
- Do NOT take a shower when the hot water has run out at your gym. This happened to my friend Steve who was subsequently asked by an old man if "he needed to be kept warm".
- Do NOT forget to bring your towel. This can lead to an uncomfortable naked run to the shower.
- Do NOT shout "Woo Hoo!" when you break your record for 3kms on the treadmill. No one else in the gym cares.

On another note, only 19 more days for me as a 20-something. *sigh*

Hmmm...

...so one of my neighbours has a dog that always barks when it's outside of their apartment and it got me to thinking - I wonder if dogs have accents? Like, does a german shepherd that was born and raised in Australia have a different bark to say, one born in South America?

Something to ponder.

It's been a while

...so I'm finally back in the country and have time to blog again! My apologies for the quiet period but - hey, I've been busy!

Thanks to everyone who hung out with myself and Matt in the past few weeks. This trip has definitely been a blast and, as always, went waaaay too fast. I'd thank you all individually but I'm lazy. But thanks! Especially all y'all who partook in some alcohol imbibing (you know I'm partial to that).

I really dislike my new (Oracle) office. It's cold and personality-less. I miss PeopleSoft.

Twenty nine days and I turn thirty. Surprisingly, I'm not too stressed out about it. Maybe it'll hit me the night before or something. I think I'm just excited about Steve and Joy headin' to Sydney.

Happy (belated) birthday to Girlie! Hurry up and get here! Also happy belated birthdays to Julie Anne (my lil sis) and Jacob (my nephew).
