Sunday Dinner

...so for those who don't know, my friends usually do a Sunday dinner thing every Sunday (obviously). It usually coincides with the Australian Idol season which makes us sound like losers, but really...we're not...*looks around uncomfortably* Anyway, last Sunday's dinner was particularly noteworthy in that EVERYONE was able to make it. Usually a few people can't make it due to other commitments but everyone showed up last Sunday and to mark the occasion I took some photos (plus Steve told me to).

The Feast! Roast turkey breast, Roast pumpkin/zucchini/sweet potato/carrot, Greek salad (courtesy of Jill), Garlic bread, Stuffing, Gravy, Cranberry sauce and Pine Nut and white chocolate brownies.

Matty's dessert - Trifle with sponge cake, jelly, custard, white chocolate, berries and whipped cream!

Everyone! Me/Matt, Rhands/Maria, Jill/Eric, Iven/Jane, Ed/Sharon and Phong/Lisa.

I know...we're posers. :P

Weekend Happenings

...so this past weekend had a million things going on so here comes my megapost.

Prinz and Charito's Wedding

Matt and I flew up to sunny Queensland to attend the wedding of our good friends Prinz and Charito. Had a BLAST at the wedding and it was great to see a lot of friends that we haven't seen in a while too.

Matt and I at the ceremony

Our table at the reception. Note the three glasses of champagne in front of me. How'd that happen? *wonder*

Ray in the middle of a groomsman sandwich AKA every gay man's wet dream.

Federico's farewell

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend 'coz we were at the wedding, but Fed left good ole Sydney after six years. Good luck on your travels Fed and see you in the Bay Area sometime!

Mikey's birthday

He's across the ocean in Baltimore but I didn't forget my boy Mikey's birthday on Sunday! He was filming a Nike commercial at the time so he celebrated it the way he would've wanted to - around scantily clad sweaty men.

Joel & Yenni's farewell

Joel & Yenni are off to sunny ...you know I really don't know where they're off to except that they're gonna be living on a little island somewhere off the coast of England. So it probably won't be sunny. Good luck over there guys and I hope that there's a Tiffany store there to keep you both happy.

Things I've Learnt

...so it's been a crazy month at work and it's gotten me to thinking about a whole bunch of stuff. Here are some of my thoughts on things I've learnt in the past year:

- Going to the gym works. It really does.
- If you don't water your chilli plant, it dies.
- You get an appreciation of life when you hear your nephew/niece laugh.
- The QANTAS Sky Bed in Business Class rocks.
- Ben Stiller is the funniest mofo on earth.
- Never burn your bridges at work. Any one of my former work friends could be the one that hires me one day.
- Stretch before you run.
- Remember to bring a towel to the gym. I once saw a guy dry himself with toilet paper and it wasn't a pleasant sight.
- When there are no expectations on a night out, you always have the best time.
- I need to be at least a little buzzed to sing karaoke.
- I love New York.
- Seeing a normally quiet friend dance like an idiot is a sight to behold.
- You can have the worst day at work but it can all be solved by a hug by the one you love.
- Turning 30 ISN'T getting old.
- The name 'Raymond' means bodyguard. The security guard at Oracle (of all people) told me that.

Gay Marriage

...so last night whilst watching Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (not bad, I give it 3.5 stars) I get a text message from my friend Justin in San Francisco who informed me that the gay marriage ban has been struck down by a California judge which is great news. It's still sometime before Matt and I go rushing out to pick out items for our wedding registry, but without weighing into all the politics of it, I think it's definitely a step forward.

Matt and I recently "registered" as a de facto couple (which in legalese is basically getting a Justice of the Peace - in our case the local pharmacist - to vouch that we've been living in sin for at least a year). We had to do this in order to get Matt on my private health insurance and let me tell ya, it wasn't that easy to do.

I do think that if we decide to get married (*cough*Bvlgari ring*cough*) I'd definitely want a huge party. There'd be a ton of international guests invited - and maybe this time Girlie will actually press the 'Submit' button when she purchases the airline tickets! :) Pre-ceremony drinks would be served by Abercrombie and Fitch models. En Vogue would regroup for one night to sing our wedding song ("Heaven (Candlelight Mix)" by DJ Sammy). A gospel choir would sing "Oh Happy Day" when the wedding celebrant (anyone want to become an internet minister and marry us?) says "You may kiss the groom". Steve and Rhandy will do a dance routine as my best men. Jonny and Ed would make out 'coz they just get swept up in all of the emotion. hee hee I've just lost my chain of thought. ;)

One day...

Brain on hold
